Frequently asked questions

Do I have to be in my 40s and 50s?

Most Ramblers groups are not age specific – but we are. We are the only Ramblers group in the North & East Yorkshire area dedicated for people in their 40s and 50s who would like to walk and socialise with their peers. For younger Ramblers, we have a sister group for people in their 20s and 30s: Get Your Boots On. For people who are older, there are also lots of other Ramblers groups in the East Yorkshire & Derwent Area that don't have an age range that may be a better fit for you.

Can I bring my dog?

This will depend on the walk. Check each walk description as sometimes, we will walk in places not suitable for dogs. Dogs need to be well behaved and must be kept on a lead at all times.

Do I need to book on to the walks?

There's no need to book – you can just turn up! Although if you use Facebook, it is helpful if you mark yourself as "Going" to the event once you know you're definitely going, as then we can get a rough idea of numbers. Please allow enough time to find somewhere to park and get yourself ready as we will start promptly at the advertised time.

How do I join?

You can come on 3 walks for free, to see if walking with our group is right for you. After that, we ask that you join the Ramblers, which allows you to walk with any Ramblers group in the country. Check the latest prices and join here.

If I don't drive, how do I get to your walks?

We list public transport options on the walk description, where available. Otherwise, you could try to get a lift by commenting in the walk event on Facebook, to see if someone who is attending the walk can help you out. If someone offers you a lift, it is courteous to contribute towards petrol and parking costs.

If you do have a spare place in your car, and are happy to offer a lift, please comment in the walk event on Facebook.

Can I bring a child?

Children under the age of 18 are not permitted on our walks.
